Jenna Shock, MSN Ed., PMHNP-BC
Owner, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

About Jenna:
Hey there, I'm Jenna Shock - owner and provider for Shock Therapy Group, LLC. I’m a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Northeast Indiana, a wife, a human mom (7 in my Brady Bunch!), a Grandma (Mimi), and a pet mom (4 dogs, 2 cats, and 4 snakes!). I have been a nurse since 2009, working specifically in psychiatry since 2014. I fell in love with the field, and graduated with my post-master's Psychiatric NP certificate in 2019. I have a pretty ridiculous obsession with sharks - enough to get me in a cage under water with Great Whites in South Africa. Set an appointment and we can learn more about each other!

Do you see patients in-person?

I split my time between virtual and in-person appointments, so please reach out directly if you would like to be seen in-person at my office in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I do see patients from all over the state of Indiana via telehealth as well.

What can you expect to take away from a session with Jenna?

The takeaway I hear most often from patients after their initial sessions with me is that for the first time ever, they finally feel heard. Psychiatry is both a science and an art, and I believe in the value of taking the time to find the proper diagnosis and treat the root causes of the symptoms you're experiencing. Sometimes that is through medication, sometimes therapy, sometimes both. I'll meet you wherever you are in your healing journey and help identify the destination. From then on, you'll never travel alone.

What are Jenna’s biggest strengths?

I believe my greatest strength lies in my genuine "realness". Like you, I'm a human being navigating this complicated world. Parenting, marriage struggles, special-needs children, past trauma - I understand where you are because I've been there, and I am dedicated to helping you get to where you want to be. I have extensive experience working with adolescents and women 18-55. I'm currently in a year-long fellowship for Functional and Integrative Psychiatry. Much of our industry treats the brain as though it is not connected to the rest of the body. We know that it is, and that deficiencies or overages in vitamin/mineral levels, thyroid abnormalities, metabolic abnormalities, sleep concerns and gut issues all affect our mental health. The more directions we’re able to attack the problem from, the more effective we’ll be able to be.

I work extensively with those who identify in various places on the gender and sexuality spectrums - I will always be a safe space for you.

What treatment methods and tools does Jenna utilize?

My approach is very individualized to each patient, based on the symptoms you're experiencing and the various root causes involved. I believe medication can be a valuable tool to aid in healing - sometimes temporarily, sometimes long-term - depending on the client. I also believe strongly in the value of therapy in breaking through barriers holding you back. Research and experience tell me that the combination is often where the sweet spot is found. We'll work together to figure out what it is that you may need. Therapy modalities are broad, and again would be heavily tailored to you and your situation. Whole-body approach means we'll focus on your mind, body and spirit through utilization of mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma informed therapy, and more.
